Good Day!

Hey, all!

We had a great day today! Zero tantrums!! Daddy worked overtime (to pay for my ailing car...), so we hung out with Grandma Nancy as she was off work. We went to Meijers, lunch, and the mall for some leisurely shopping. Ben was VERY good all day. He was fun, playful, more interactive and did much less stimming. And, he really enjoyed the fun red car stroller at the mall. :o)

We did have a minor issue this morning. I borrowed my Dad's SUV while my car was being fixed. As I expected, when we walked out into the garage this morning, Ben looked at the SUV, looked at me and did his little whine as if to say "where is MY car, lady?" It wasn't too bad though. We took our time, walked around the SUV to check it out, sat in the driver seat turning lights on and off, and let him touch every possible surface with his little finger. Finally, after about 10 minutes he climbed into his carseat and was fine with it the rest of the day. However, he was very excited to get "his car" back from the shop this afternoon. :o) With autism, the slightest change can provoke a major response. Lucky, this one wasn't too bad!

We are looking forward to seeing Nana and Papaw Monday! (Jeremy's parents are coming to visit.) In preparation, we have been concentrating really hard on saying "Nana" and "Papaw." He has said a few really good ones, although "Papaw" sounds more like "Papa" and is always whispered...not sure what that is about. He also whispers "pop" and "hot." :o)

Tomorrow is the start of college football! Ben and I are going to watch the game with Aunt Jenny and cousin Noah since the men are working. GO BUCKEYES!!!

Ok, I'm going to go read my newspaper before I turn in for the night.

Hope you are all well! God Bless!

Love,
Julie (and the BOYS)

PS - Ben will be off school for 10 days! We have lots planned to keep him busy, but please pray for many more good days like today in the next week or so!!

Ohh, we want to come over for Labor Day too. :o(
You know, it's funny. Micah is so much the same about change. He is getting weird even about the routes that we take places. If we tell him we are going to the park, he insists that we take the same way all the time. I have had to teach him that red means stop and green means go as well. His routine has to be the same every day or the entire day is thrown off. I know his isn't as major as Ben's, but we still get a small taste of this too.
